Rubber Flapper Check Valve

Rubber Flapper Check Valve
Product Introduction:
Non-slam design with a 45-degree tilt seat significantly reduces closing distance, effectively preventing water hammer in high-head pumping systems.
Fully EPDM encapsulated disc provides a drop-tight seal even at very low backpressures, ensuring zero leakage in municipal water distribution.
Ductile iron GGG50 body paired with stainless steel fasteners offers the structural integrity needed for buried service and harsh industrial environments.
Unobstructed flow path allows this rubber flapper check valve to handle large solids and stringy materials without clogging, making it a top pick for raw sewage and wastewater.
Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coating applied both internally and externally at a minimum of 250 microns to resist corrosion and chemical erosion.
Short-stroke flapper movement ensures rapid closure before flow reversal, protecting expensive pumps and upstream equipment from pressure surges.
Horizontal or vertical installation versatility allows for flexible pipeline layouts in tight mechanical rooms or pump stations.

Rubber Flapper Check Valve

Keylion® Rubber Flapper Check Valve is basically the "set-and-forget" solution for any engineer dealing with municipal pumping or raw sewage lines. You'll often hear it called a rubber disc check or a resilient seated flapper valve in the field. The operation is pretty straightforward: the pressure from your pump lifts the encapsulated disc, and the moment the flow stops, gravity and backpressure snap it shut against the tilted seat. Unlike old-school swing checks that slam and rattle, this design handles solids effortlessly and stays quiet. It's the go-to choice for lift stations where debris usually ruins metal-to-metal seats.

Proper installation is vital for the non-slam feature. First, verify the flow arrow on the ductile iron body matches your pipeline direction. For horizontal layouts, ensure the bonnet faces straight up so gravity assists the flapper's closure. This valve also works in vertical pipelines, provided the flow moves upward. Avoid downward flow installations, as the disc might fail to seat correctly. Always leave enough clearance above the cover for future flapper inspections without removing the entire valve body.

FAQ

Q1: Why pick this over a standard swing check?

Well, the "thud" is the real answer. A traditional swing check has to swing a full 90 degrees, and when it slams shut, your whole pipe shakes. Our rubber flapper sits at a 45-degree angle. It travels half the distance, shuts way faster, and doesn't make that loud banging noise. Plus, since there are no metal hinges or bushings in the flow, you don't have to worry about grit jamming the mechanism.

Q2: Where do these show up in fire safety systems?

If you're working on fire protection rigs, you're going to see these right at the discharge end of the main pumps or behind the Fire Department Connection (FDC) inlet. Its job is simple but huge: it keeps the high-pressure water from the engine truck from flying backward into the city main. It keeps the pressure focused entirely on the sprinklers where it's actually needed.

Q3: Can I tip it on its side or install it vertically?

You can install it vertically, but only if the water is climbing. If the flow is going down, gravity will just hold the flapper open and you'll get backflow the second the pump stops. For horizontal runs, just make sure the "hump" (the bonnet) is facing straight up. If you tilt it sideways, the disc might not seat perfectly, and you'll end up with a slow, annoying leak.

Q4: Will it clog if I'm pumping raw sewage? That's actually where this valve shines best. Standard valves have hinge pins and springs that love to catch hair, rags, and plastic bags. This design is basically a straight-through tunnel when it's fully open. There's nothing for the trash to snag on, so it stays clean much longer than a dual-plate or a standard metal swing check.
