Keylion® Universal Flange Adaptor joins plain-end pipes to flanged components like valves, pumps, or pipe ends. It uses a mechanical socket with an EPDM gasket that adjusts to fit wide outside diameters, creating a leak-proof seal on PVC, PE, steel, or ductile iron. The internal structure absorbs thermal movement and allows limited angular deflection, reducing total pipeline stress.

This adaptor is widely used in municipal water, drainage, and sewage plants for linking infrastructure. It also serves as a junction in irrigation and industrial cooling systems. The simple design streamlines installation and maintenance in underground or valve pit scenarios.

Material & Build

Body Casting: The main shell is cast from high-strength Ductile Iron. This material provides the necessary toughness to withstand high internal pressure and external soil loads without the brittleness found in gray iron.
FBE Coating: We apply a blue fusion-bonded epoxy powder across all surfaces. This thick anti-corrosive layer prevents rust in damp trenches and resists chemical attacks in wastewater applications.
Structural Components:
Flange End: A standard drilled disc at the base designed to mate with valves, meters, or pumps using traditional bolt sets.
Socket End: The upper opening featuring a ribbed or trapezoidal rubber gasket for a tight grip on the pipe exterior.
Gland & Bolts: A top ring connected by long, heavy-duty bolts. These bolts usually come with orange or red plastic caps to protect the threads from grit and impact during transport.
Usage Scenarios

Bridging Different Materials: It connects straight pipes-PVC, PE, ductile iron, steel, or even fiber cement-to flanged components without requiring special adapters for each material.
System Compensation: The pipe slides into the socket end. As you tighten the bolts, the rubber ring deforms to grip the pipe. This allows for slight axial displacement and misalignment, acting as a small-scale expansion joint to protect your valves from pipe stress.

1. Does this adaptor work on both PE and Ductile Iron pipes?

Yes, as long as the outside diameter of your pipe falls within the tolerance range marked on the fitting body. It is designed to be truly "universal" for most common water industry pipe materials.

2. Is the flange drilling fixed at PN16?

We offer multi-drilled flanges that can match PN10, PN16, and sometimes BS or ANSI standards in a single fitting. Please specify your local flange standard when asking for a quote so we can confirm the hole pattern.

3. What is the life expectancy of the rubber gasket?

We use high-grade EPDM or NBR. Under normal buried water service conditions, these gaskets are designed to last as long as the pipeline itself, often exceeding 30-50 years.

4. Can I get stainless steel bolts for coastal installations?

Absolutely. While galvanized steel is standard, we frequently supply 304 or 316 stainless steel bolts and nuts for high-salinity environments or aggressive soil conditions.

5. How much angular deflection can this joint handle?

Generally, it allows for roughly 3 to 6 degrees of deflection. This is enough to follow a slight curve in the trench or absorb the movement from ground settling without leaking.
