Keylion® Flanged Concentric Reducer. Site engineers often refer to it as a flange taper or reducing spool. This inline fitting connects two pipes of different sizes while keeping the pipeline centerline aligned, whether you install it on horizontal or vertical pipe runs.

Its precision cast tapered body gently guides the fluid stream. It adjusts flow velocity and keeps the whole piping system stable. You can spot this fitting frequently in municipal pump stations, fire main headers and cooling water circuits, where straight pipe routing is required.

Built with integrated flanges, it uses bolted assembly for firm connection. When compared with threaded or mechanical joint options, this flange style holds up far better and offers stronger structural stability under high-pressure working conditions.

FAQ

Q1: Can I install this flanged concentric reducer on a horizontal pump suction line?
A: We don't recommend this setup. A concentric reducer fitted horizontally on pump suction piping can trap air inside. Those air pockets will get drawn into the pump and trigger cavitation issues. If you work on horizontal suction lines, pick a flanged eccentric reducer with the flat side facing up. It keeps air from building up and maintains steady fluid flow.

 

Q2: Does this fitting have a fixed flow direction?
A: There is no strict one-way limit. Fluid can run from the larger bore to the smaller one to speed up flow, or go the opposite direction to slow it down. That said, your hydraulic system design decides which direction you should use. Double-check your pipeline layout and flow requirements before you start installation.

 

Q3: Do bolts, nuts and gaskets come with the flanged concentric reducer?
A: Normally they are not included. Our standard package only contains the ductile iron reducer itself. Fasteners and EPDM gaskets are sold separately as optional spare parts. If you want a full ready-to-install set for your site, just tell our sales team and we can bundle all these accessories for you.
