Keylion® All Socket Tee, often referred to as a DI Push-on Tee or Tyton joint tee, acts as the primary branching component in pressurized liquid networks. Its core function is diverting flow via a three-way junction while maintaining high-pressure integrity. The working principle involves a mechanical interference fit, where an EPDM gasket is compressed within the internal socket groove by a pipe's spigot end, creating a resilient, leak-proof seal. Widely deployed in municipal water mains and underground firefighting systems, it connects directly with ductile iron spigot-end pipes and socket gate valves for rapid, bolt-free installation.

Q: Can I connect an All Socket Tee directly to a flanged gate valve?
A: Not directly. Since all three ends of this tee are sockets, you'll need a short length of spigot-end pipe (a "rocker pipe") to bridge the gap. If your layout requires a direct valve connection on the branch, we'd recommend our Double Socket Tee with Flanged Branch. However, for pure pipeline branching, the All Socket version is much faster to install because it eliminates the need for expensive bolt sets and gaskets at every junction.

Q: What is the maximum allowable deflection for these socket joints?
A: This is one of the biggest advantages of push-on joints over rigid flanged connections. Depending on the DN (diameter), you can typically achieve an angular deflection of 3° to 5° per socket. This flexibility is a lifesaver in uneven trenches or when the pipeline needs to follow a slight curve in the road, as it often removes the need for additional 11.25° or 22.5° bends.

Q: How does the FBE coating handle aggressive soil conditions?
A: We use a minimum of 250 microns of Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE), which meets ISO 8179 standards for buried infrastructure. Unlike thin bitumen paint that can chip off during transit, FBE is thermally bonded to the GGG50 ductile iron. This creates a hard-wearing, non-porous barrier that holds up exceptionally well in acidic soils or areas with high water tables, effectively preventing "graphitization" of the iron.

Q: Why am I struggling to push the pipe into the socket during installation?
A: 90% of the time, the issue is either a dirty gasket groove or improper lubrication. Ensure the internal groove is wiped clean before the EPDM ring is seated. Also, never use oil-based grease as it can degrade the rubber; always use a water-soluble pipe lubricant. If the pipe is cut on-site, make sure the spigot end is chamfered (beveled) at about 15°-a square edge will simply snag and displace the gasket.

Q: Are these fittings compatible with both ISO 2531 and EN 545 pipes?
A: Yes. While there are slight differences in wall thickness classes (like K9 vs. Class C), the external diameters (OD) and socket dimensions for ISO 2531 and EN 545 are standardized to be interchangeable. As long as you are using standard ductile iron spigot ends, our All Socket Tees will provide a tight, pressure-rated seal without any modification.
