Product Overview

The flow switch in your system is vital for detecting abnormal flow conditions, providing early warning, and triggering necessary actions within your control systems. This vane-type detector utilizes a proven mechanical principle: a paddle is inserted into the flow stream, and when flow exceeds a predetermined rate, the paddle deflects and activates a switch mechanism.

This system offers a simple yet effective method for consistent and reliable monitoring. The robust design includes a durable housing and a mechanical time delay feature, preventing false alarms from pressure surges or sudden, momentary water flows. With dual SPDT (Single-Pole, Double-Throw) contacts, it can signal multiple points simultaneously, such as a control panel and a local alarm.

Core Features & Benefits

01 Robust and Durable Materials

Constructed with high-grade, corrosion-resistant materials, including a rugged metal housing and stainless steel internal components.

02 Adjustable Sensitivity & Time Delay

An adjustable mechanism allows users to fine-tune the flow rate threshold for activation, offering versatility. An integrated, adjustable time delay prevents nuisance alarms from momentary surges.

 03 Simplified, Non-Intrusive Installation

The clamp-on (saddle-mount) design allows easy installation onto existing pipelines without extensive modifications, reducing costs and downtime.

04 Versatile Compatibility

Suitable for various pipe schedules and sizes. It is compatible with many liquids like water and glycol solutions, provided material compatibility is confirmed.

05 High Pressure Tolerance

Engineered to operate safely in high-pressure environments.

06 Tamper-Resistant Design

Built with a design resistant to interference, ensuring system integrity.

FAQ

Q: What is the purpose of a Vane Type Waterflow Detector?

A: It detects the sustained movement of water within the fire sprinkler system piping, which indicates that a sprinkler head has activated in response to a fire. When flow is detected, it sends a signal to the fire alarm control panel.

Q: How does the device work?

A: The detector has a paddle (vane) that extends into the pipe. When water flows at or above a set rate (usually 4 to 10 GPM), the paddle is pushed aside, which triggers internal switches after a mechanical delay to prevent false alarms from pressure surges.

Q: Can this be installed on any type of sprinkler system?

A: No, vane-type water flow detectors are designed for wet-pipe systems only. Do NOT use them in dry pipe, deluge, or preaction systems, as the sudden rush of water can damage the mechanism.

Q: How often does this device need testing?

A: Generally, these indoor electric flow switches need to be tested twice a year (semiannually).
